Call for Applications for 2nd Conversational Intelligence Summer School

The Conversational Intelligence Summer School is a week-long intensive program that includes instruction and programming tutorials in the morning, invited speaker colloquium in the afternoon, followed by supervised project work in the late afternoon. Instruction will include an introduction to the principles of deep neural networks used for natural language processing, including recurrent neural networks, convolutional networks, and sequence-to-sequence encoder-decoder architectures with attention, as well as vector space lexical embeddings, and other more advanced topics. Participants will work in teams to build working prototype conversational agent projects to be released at the end of the session.

  • Due to the course material, the program is best suited for both advanced students and industry participants with some knowledge of machine learning
  • It is recommended that student participants have completed at least one semester of machine learning with some exposure to neural network models. The summer school is best suited for 1stand 2nd year PhD and Master's students and advanced undergraduates. A background in natural language processing is not required but desirable.
  • Non-student participants are NOT required to submit an application. However, we encourage all participants to review the set of qualifying problems to ensure they are comfortable with the subject matter of the program. We will send industry and academic researcher participants the set of qualifying problems upon registration or by request.
