Background and Purpose of the Conference

Tourism is one of the most important industries, contributing an estimated 5% to the worldwide gross domestic product (GDP) and creating thousands of jobs in the service industries associated with tourism. Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences play a major role in both the tourism education as well as the knowledge transfer between the academia and the practioners from the industry.

The aim of the International Students Conference in Tourism Research is thus to offer students a unique platform to present their research and to establish a mutual knowledge transfer forum for attendees from academia, industry, government and other organisations.

The annual conference, wich is jointly organised by the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and theSalzburg University of Applied Sciences, will take place alternatively at the locations Salzburg and Krems. The conference research chairs are Prof. (FH) Dr. Roman Egger (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. (FH) Mag. Christian Maurer (University of Applied Sciences Krems).
