International competition for an Innovative Essay on "How the historical experience of the Polish “SOLIDARNOŚĆ” movement could be used for peaceful change in the World today"
Thirty years ago Eegil Aarvik in his Presentation Speech on October 10, 1983 when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Lech Wałęsa, the leader of then banned first independent and self-governing SOLIDARNOŚĆ trade union in the Communist country said: “Solidarity has come to represent the determination to resolve conflicts and obliterate disagreement through peaceful negotiation, where all involved meet with mutual respect for one another's integrity”. To commemorate this event the Institute of Applied Social Sciences, University of Warsaw acting under the patronage of Professor Barbara Kudrycka, Polish Minister of Higher Education and Science calls doctoral students all over the world to participate in an international competition for an Innovative Essay on
HOW THE HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE OF THE POLISH “SOLIDARNOŚĆ” MOVEMENT COULD BE USED FOR PEACEFUL CHANGE IN THE WORLD TODAY
The essay written in English, Russian, French or Spanish should be about 5,000 words long.
The Jury will select up to 25 essays whose Authors will be invited to assist the 2013 World Peace Nobel Prize Laureates Summit to be held in Warsaw, 21st-23d October 2013 and to present their thoughts before the international audience. Organizers will attempt all possible measures to secure the successful winners cheap flights to and from Warsaw and accommodation. The contestants must submit their work in electronic form to firstname.lastname@example.org preferably by July 15th but not later than August 1st 2013 with personal information (name, address, citizenship, and affiliation) attached . Outcome of the competition will be made known to participants at our earliest convenience.
