Call for Applications, VGW’s Nigel Blythe-Tinker Scholarship


Nigel Blythe-Tinker is the Executive Chairman of VGW. Nigel has enjoyed an impressive career. Having spent the better part of three decades at the top of some of the world’s largest companies across London, the United Kingdom, and Europe, Nigel has now turned his attention on Australia. For Nigel, this time is more about what he can give back to the community. Through the boards he sits on, the youth that he mentors and the boardroom events he leads, Nigel is working hard to pass on the lessons learned over his illustrious career to the next generation. Hence, Nigel has set up the Nigel Blythe-Tinker Scholarship. Nigel wants to help US students who have overcome hardship in their lives and still achieved success by rewarding their efforts and providing financial support with a $10,000 scholarship.


US Students are to submit an essay between 800-1200 words on the topic of their greatest victory.

VGW’s Nigel Blythe-Tinker Scholarship is created to help those who have overcome hardship in their lives and achieved success. VGW wants to reward students for their efforts and provide financial support with a $10,000 scholarship.

VGW luvs to hear about people winning at life. Each person has their own battle they have overcome to achieve success, and story to tell!

Cash awards for US Students in the Nigel Blythe-Tinker Scholarship:

  • National Grand Award – $10,000
  • Runners Up Award – 3 at $1,500 each

The closing date 11:59pm(EST) December 31st, 2018. Winners will be announced on the contest site on  January 15th, 2019. Winners must provide publicity photos and information, as well as Social Security numbers in order to receive award money. Social Security numbers are requested from winners for tax purposes only. The Bill of Rights Institute does not
sell, nor use student Social Security numbers for any reason other than the required reporting for Federal tax purposes. Winners will receive the following awards based upon the judges’ evaluations as outlined in Section IV.


The Contest is open to all United States citizens and legal residents. All entrants must be students at the end of the Contest Period who attend university in the United States, one of its territories or districts, or an American Armed Forces school overseas.

Each submission must adhere to the word limit (between 800 and 1,200 words). Only online submissions will be accepted for the contest. Only one essay per student
will be accepted.

After the Contest Period, the judges elected by VGW will review and select a winner from all eligible entries received. The judges will then select the second award-winners. Entries will be evaluated based upon the following criteria: adherence to the Submission Guidelines (as stated in Section 4), originality, writing style, and depth of analysis. Winners will be announced on the contest site on or before 31st December.
