Call for Applications, Lehmann-Haupt International Doctoral Programme in Georgia

Ilia State University announces call for applications within the “Lehmann-Haupt International Doctoral Programme”.

The transdisciplinary “Lehmann-Haupt International Doctoral Programme” is a joint project between Ilia State University Tbilisi (ISU) and Georg-August-University of Göttingen (UGOE) which gives 12 Ph.D. students from various scientific fields the opportunity to pursue their doctoral projects within a structured Cotutelle-based framework and obtain a Ph.D. degree by each of the two universities (double degree).

Funding granted by the German VolkswagenStiftung and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia allows the allocation of full scholarships to each of the 12 participants.

The application deadline is March 9, 2018, 12:00 p.m. Georgian time (GET).

Applicants who cannot present a sufficient proof of English language proficiency with their application can take an English language test at Ilia State University (ISU). The test will take place on March 10, 2018, from 14:00 to 16:00 in Auditoriums D 505 and D 506.Please subscribe no later than 15 minutes before the test starts (13:45) with a valid proof of identity. Late attendees cannot be admitted to the test!

For meeting the English language requirement a score of at least 65 points must be obtained.

The results of the English test will be announced on the ISU website on March 11, 2018. An appeal against the given score must be filed either via e-mail to or in writing at ISU Chancellery (Ilia State University, 3/5 Cholokashvili Str., 0162 Tbilisi, Georgia) no later than March 12, 2018 until 18:00. The final results – including the results of possible appeals – will be announced on the ISU website on March 13, 2018.
